Whangamatā

Whangamatā is a Coromandel surf town, with accommodation a short walk back from a long ocean beach.

The bar at the harbour mouth draws surfers, and kayaks paddle out to Donut Island on calm days. Baches and beach houses are spread through the quiet streets near the sand, and each autumn the Beach Hop brings hot rods to the main street.
