Pauanui

Pauanui accommodation lies between a long surf beach and the Tairua Harbour, in a flat, quiet town built around summer.

Streets run wide and level, so bikes do most of the work, and the boat ramps stay busy whenever the weather holds. The climb up Mount Pauanui takes in the harbour entrance and the coast both ways. Tairua is a few minutes across the water by passenger ferry in season, and holiday homes back onto the canals or the dunes.
