Russell

Russell accommodation gathers along a quiet waterfront in one of the oldest European settlements in the country, under pōhutukawa above the beach.

Cottages and baches on the hill behind the Strand are a few minutes’ walk from the water. Christ Church still carries musket holes from 1845, and the track up Flagstaff Hill ends where Hōne Heke felled the pole four times. Over the ridge, Long Beach is a wide stretch of sand with calm water for swimming.
