Haruru accommodation looks onto the Waitangi River a few minutes above Paihia, where the falls curve in a horseshoe below the road bridge.

Baches and holiday homes here face flat water rather than a busy waterfront, and kayaks can be paddled to the foot of the falls on a rising tide. A boardwalk runs from the falls through the mangroves to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.
