Tākaka

One main street, a Saturday market and a long alternative streak shape Tākaka accommodation, in the middle of Golden Bay.

Baches and cottages take the summer trade, and days fall into an easy order: Pōhara for the sand, Wainui Falls for a short walk through bush, and the road out to Tōtaranui at the top of the Abel Tasman track. Up a track above the valley, the stalactites in Rawhiti Cave grow toward the light.
