Ōtaki

Ōtaki accommodation splits between a quiet township and a long flat beach a few minutes west, with the Tararua Range filling the view inland.

Baches sit close to the sand where the river reaches the sea, good for driftwood walks and easy summer swimming. In town, the old highway is still lined with outlet shops, and Rangiātea Church stands above it, rebuilt after a fire in 1995.
