Āwhitu
Out on the peninsula between the Manukau Harbour and the open sea, Āwhitu accommodation means baches and farm cottages with paddocks for neighbours. The road in runs the long way round through Waiuku.
The lighthouse above Manukau Heads looks straight down the harbour entrance, and the regional park along the same coast runs from grazing land to the sand. Sheltered bays on the harbour side suit a swim while the surf works the western shore.
