Farming runs the place. The Eyre Mountains stand off to the west, tussock takes over between the paddocks, and most of the traffic is passing through. Farm stays and cottages take in anglers, cyclists and drivers between Queenstown and Te Anau who would rather stop somewhere small. Frost holds in the valley on winter mornings.
