Guesthouse at Ohope Beach
Welcome to your coastal getaway in beautiful Ōhope. Tucked away on Harbour Road, this self-contained unit offers a relaxing retreat for two guests seeking a seaside escape. Familiarly known as ‘The DogBox’, this guesthouse sits between the harbour and the ocean. You are 2 minutes away from the water in either direction.
The interior features a lounge designed for comfort. Leather sofas provide plenty of room to unwind after a day on the beach. A wall-mounted heat pump keeps the entire space cool in summer and warm during winter. For entertainment, you can enjoy the television (not a smart tv), listen to the radio, or open up the cane cabinet to find a selection of board games. A cane dining suite sits nearby, perfect for enjoying a quiet meal.
Self-catering is a breeze in the kitchen. It boasts modern appliances, including a gas hob, oven, rangehood, dishwasher, microwave, and a fridge. You will find all the crockery, cutlery, and cookware required to prepare meals. Coffee lovers will appreciate the Nespresso machine, with a few pods provided to start your day.
The cosy bedroom is designed to maximise comfort with a queen bed dressed in quality linen. While the room is compact, it provides a quiet sanctuary featuring a basket stack and a hanging rack for your belongings. Nearby, the tidy bathroom includes a practical shower, toilet, and vanity, along with a supply of towels.
Step outside to find a fenced yard and a concrete patio complete with a picnic table. A screened alcove features a small table with chairs, offering a lovely spot for relaxation.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome to enjoy the beach lifestyle by your side. Please note the house rules to ensure a wonderful stay for everyone.
Our main house is very close to the guesthouse but we are very mindful of your privacy so do not interrupt your stay, but we are there if needed.
Kitchen & Dining
The fully equipped kitchen has modern appliances including a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, and dishwasher. A full-sized fridge offers plenty of space for your beach groceries. Enjoy your meals at the cane dining suite, which comfortably seats two.
Bedrooms
The guesthouse features one compact bedroom with a comfortable queen sized bed. Storage is provided by a handy basket stack and a hanging rack. Matching bedside tables and reading lamps complete this cosy space.
Bathrooms
The tidy bathroom offers a practical layout for your stay. It features a shower with amazing water pressure, toilet, and a vanity with storage. Lots of linen is supplied to ensure a convenient visit.
Outdoor Areas
Step outside to a fully fenced section. The patio features a timber picnic table for outdoor dining. A screened alcove also offers a private spot with a wooden table and two folding chairs.
Off street Parking is on the road side of the black gates. The farm style gate further down the driveway can be locked at night for added security.
Entertainment
Indoor entertainment includes a television and a portable radio. A cane cabinet holds classic board games such as snakes and ladders, chess, and dominoes. Free Wi-Fi is also provided to keep you connected.

Step out your front door and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Bay of Plenty, starting with a leisurely three-minute stroll to the scenic Otao Reserve just down the road. If you’re keen to hit the greens, the world-class Ohope Beach Golf Links is only a quick five-minute drive away, offering spectacular views while you play. For a perfect day of sun and surf, you can easily sink your toes into the sand at the breathtaking Ōhope Beach, or explore the rich cultural history and stunning harbor vistas at the nearby Tauwhare Pa Scenic Reserve, both reachable in under ten minutes by car.
House Rules
A maximum of 2 adults can stay here.
Only 1 car per booking in the driveway please. Other cars can be parked on the road.
Please ensure the shared portion of the driveway is kept clear for neighbours access.
If you chose to play with the Lego Farm Bricks, please ensure your creations are dismantled and packed away tidily in correct boxes before you leave.
Dogs can stay but the seperate dog rules must be obeyed.
No smoking, vaping or events on the property.
Ours is a VERY quiet neighbourhood so would appreciate keeping noise to a minimum.

Booking Cancellation Policy
Guests may cancel their booking up to 3 full days before check-in to receive a full refund of the booking amount. Cancellations made less than 3 full days before check-in are non-refundable. The 3% bank payment fee is non-refundable in all cases.
