Pōrangahau

Pōrangahau accommodation lies an hour south of Waipukurau, where Central Hawke’s Bay farmland runs down to the coast.

Nobody passes through on the way to somewhere else. Days go on driftwood, gulls and a rod in the surf at dawn, with Cape Turnagain closing off the view south. The village runs to a store, a marae and a great deal of sky, and the baches line the road behind the beach at Te Paerahi.
