Eltham

Cottages and farm stays make up Eltham accommodation, in dairy country on the ring plain south-east of Mount Taranaki. Cheesemaking made the town’s name, and the main street still carries the brick shopfronts that came with it.

From nearby Kaponga the road climbs toward Dawson Falls, where the bush thickens into mossy goblin forest. The day still runs on milking times.
