Akaroa

Akaroa accommodation looks over a harbour drowned inside an old volcano, in a village where the streets still carry French names.

Holiday homes and cottages step up the slopes above the waterfront. The Giant’s House works its way up the hill in mosaic and salvaged china, and the old Akaroa Head lighthouse now stands at the south end of the village. Once the season ends the place goes quiet again.
