THE SPACE:
Mariners Lookout is a new, open-plan three-bedroom house, ideal for relaxed beach living. Tile and wood floors throughout make for an easy-care, family-friendly space where you can relax and enjoy the expansive views.

GUEST ACCESS:
Check-in is fast and easy using our smart lock.

You will have the entire property to yourself – there are no hosts on-site and no spaces shared with anyone other than the people in your group.

There is free off-street parking available with space for two vehicles to park on our parking deck at street level. Access to the front door is down a short flight of stairs from the parking area. Access to the living area from the hallway is also down a small number of stairs. Safe street parking is available for additional vehicles if required – please let us know if you will be bringing more than 2 cars.

The beach is an easy walk down the hill – there’s a shortcut between numbers 1 and 3 Mariners Cove that will get you to the beach in less than 5 minutes.

While there are some buses on the peninsula, we recommend bringing your own vehicle to really explore the area and make the most of your stay.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
* The indoor fireplace is not functional and is for decorative purposes only.
* Unfortunately, due to host allergies we are unable to accommodate any pets (including assistance animals).
* There is one security camera on the parking area. It isn’t monitored and is just there for guests’ peace of mind, but recordings can be retrieved if needed. There are no cameras inside the house.

Cass Bay is a small beachside community with no shops or restaurants. We recommend guests stop in Christchurch for supplies on the way out to the property. Lyttelton is an easy 5-minute drive away and has a small supermarket for essentials like bread or milk. It’s also a great spot to visit on Saturday mornings for the markets or any time to check out the cafes, restaurants and bars.

GAS:
The house is powered by bottled gas, so if the gas runs out you will need to switch from the empty bottle to the full bottle. This is an easy process & there are instructions at the house. If you do change the gas during your stay, please inform the hosts immediately so we can order more gas.

SMART LOCK:
There is a smart lock on the front door; guests will be sent a code for this before check-in. There is no need to lock the door during your stay as the smart lock will lock itself automatically after a 7-minute delay (to prevent annoyance while checking in and checking out).

RUBBISH:
Our rubbish bins are small and only collected once every two weeks. As such, excessive rubbish left behind causes major problems and impacts other guests.
Please use the yellow (recycling), green (food waste) and red (general waste) bins on the parking deck during your stay. There are two yellow (recycling) bins – please don’t put anything in the second one until the first is full. Guests are welcome to use the bins to dispose of any rubbish accumulated during their stay but please do not dump any rubbish brought from elsewhere as we just don’t have space.
It is really important that all recycling (paper, plastic, glass, cans) goes into the yellow bin, otherwise the red bin will fill up very quickly!


Interior Spaces
Kitchen & Dining

Spacious new kitchen with stone benchtops and tonnes of storage space. Fully equipped with cookware, utensils, cutlery and crockery as well as plenty of appliances including a Nespresso machine, blender, microwave and sandwich press. There’s an oven, gas cooktop and dishwasher – everything you need to feel right at home.

Bedrooms

Master bedroom has a King bed, wardrobes and an ensuite bathroom with bathtub! The other two bedrooms each have a Queen bed, bedside tables and wardrobes. There’s also a sofa bed in the lounge – just let us know if you’re planning on using this so we can ensure that bedding is left out for you.

Bathrooms

There are two large bathrooms. The ensuite includes a high-pressure shower with rainfall head and bathtub. The main bathroom features a shower with fabulous pressure. We have gas hot water so it is fast, hot and long-lasting.

Outdoor Areas

There’s a spacious deck with Oklahoma Joe charcoal BBQ, outdoor seating and stunning views of the hills, harbour and Banks Peninsula. There’s also a smaller deck out the front of the house; the perfect spot for a morning coffee.

Good to Know
Safety Features

There are smoke alarms throughout the house and a CO2 alarm in the lounge. There is a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit in the kitchen. There is a motion-activated security camera on the parking area – this is not actively monitored but recordings can be retrieved if needed.

Booking Cancellation Policy

Guests may cancel their booking up to 7 full days before check-in to receive a full refund of the booking amount. Cancellations made less than 7 full days before check-in are non-refundable. The 3% bank payment fee is non-refundable in all cases.

House Rules

1. Smoking is prohibited anywhere on the property (outdoors as well as inside).

2. Due to host allergies, we cannot accommodate any pets or support animals

3. If you change over the gas bottle from the empty bottle to the full bottle during your stay, please let the hosts know immediately?

4. All guests agree that they will not turn off the wifi – this affects the operating systems of the house.

5. Please be aware that our rubbish bins are only collected once every 2 weeks and the general waste bin is very small. While guests are welcome to use the bins on the parking deck, please be considerate of the amount left behind and please ensure that all recycling goes into the yellow bin and all food waste into the green bin.

We have a 55″ Smart TV with Netflix provided. There’s also a soundbar with subwoofer and an Alexa for music.
There is a small selection of books, puzzles and board games at the house.
