Introducing the Bookably Host Assistant

Listing your property on Bookably is now done for you. Hand over a few photos and a short description of your place, and the Host Assistant drafts your entire listing — title, descriptions, nearby attractions, tags, the lot. You approve what’s right, fix what isn’t, then publish.

It’s called the Bookably Host Assistant, and the word that matters is assistant. This isn’t a help bot that answers questions and points you at a form. It’s a working assistant that takes on the actual operational work of running a holiday rental — writing your listing, updating pricing, blocking calendars, drafting guest replies, walking you through payouts. You direct it. It executes.

What it does

The Host Assistant is built into Bookably and handles the operational work most hosting platforms leave to you. Listing your first property is the obvious one. But the same assistant also runs your bookings, replies to guests, blocks dates on your calendar, suggests pricing tweaks, and updates any field on any of your listings. You tell it what needs doing; it makes the change.

How it works for a brand-new host

  1. Click List Your Property from the menu.
  2. Sign in or register.
  3. The assistant walks you through a short profile setup and Stripe payouts. One-time only.
  4. Give the assistant a short description of your place — what kind of property it is, the area, what makes it special. Upload 5 or more photos.
  5. The assistant drafts your full listing — title, room-by-room descriptions, nearby attractions, suggested tags, the listing category.
  6. Approve what’s good, ask the assistant to redo what isn’t. (“Make the kitchen description more casual.” It rewrites it.)
  7. Preview, choose a host package, publish.

Typical first-time listing: 15 to 20 minutes start to finish. No forms, no field-by-field data entry, no staring at blank description boxes.

Three things that make this different

1. It writes your listing for you

Give the assistant a few sentences — what kind of place it is, where it is, what makes it special. Something along the lines of: “Modern eco stay above Sumner. Hot tub, panoramic views, sleeps 6, dog-friendly. A short walk to the beach and the village cafés.” Upload your photos, and that’s genuinely all the writing you need to do. From there, the assistant produces your listing title, the main description, descriptions of every room you’ve photographed, a nearby-attractions section, suggested tags and the right listing category.

You stay in control. Every draft is yours to keep, refine, or throw out. Ask for a different tone (“more relaxed,” “more luxury”) and the assistant rewrites it. Nothing publishes until you say so.

2. The same fluency on every device

The Host Assistant is fast on a desktop browser and just as capable on a phone. Sign up, set up Stripe Connect, upload photos, get a full listing drafted, pick a package and pay — all in a single uninterrupted flow, on whichever device you happen to be on.

Most platforms expect you to switch to a desktop for “serious work” and then hand you a dozen forms when you get there. The Host Assistant doesn’t make that distinction. It does the same work the same way wherever you open it — so you can knock off a guest reply on the train and then deep-dive into pricing at your desk later, without changing tools.

3. It runs the day-to-day for you

Once your listing is live, the assistant becomes your operations crew. Type what you want done; it does it. A few examples that just work:

  • “Change my cleaning fee to $300.” → Opens the pricing step on your listing and updates the extra fee.
  • “Block Easter weekend on the Sumner place.” → Opens that listing’s calendar and blocks the matching dates.
  • “Draft a reply to the latest review.” → Generates a draft you can approve, edit, or have rewritten.
  • “What would a 3-night stay for 2 guests cost?” → Returns a full quote breakdown — exactly what a guest would see.
  • “Show me what’s booked next month.” → Opens your bookings filtered to that date range.

Listings, bookings, messages, calendar, reviews, profile — one assistant handles all of them. No tab-switching, no admin menus, no waiting for a form to load.

The classic dashboard is still available

If you’ve used Bookably before and prefer the form-style admin you know, the existing Host Dashboard is still there. Both share the same data — ask the assistant to change a price and you’ll see it reflected in the dashboard immediately, and vice versa. Use whichever fits your taste. For most hosts, the assistant will be faster for almost everything; the dashboard remains a perfectly good option if you want to browse fields directly.
