Planning a trip around something you want to do has always meant three jobs: finding out who runs it, working out where it leaves from, then hunting for somewhere to stay nearby. From today, Bookably puts all three in one place. Activity search is live.

Type the activity, not the town

Start typing in the search bar and, alongside regions, towns, events and attractions, you will now see activities: jet boating in Queenstown, sea kayaking in Abel Tasman National Park, cruises on Lake Taupō. Pick one and Bookably centres the search on where the activity departs and shows the homes in the area around it. No dates are filled in for you, because the day you go is yours to choose.

A page for every activity

Each activity also has its own page, such as Jet boating in Queenstown or Sea kayaking in Abel Tasman National Park. It lists the operators that run the activity there, each with a link to its own website, and the things worth knowing before you go: where it leaves from, when it runs, and any age limits. Each page also names the towns the nearby homes are in, so you know where you would actually be staying.

We list operators. We do not sell them

Bookably does not sell or book activities, and no operator pays to be on a page. Operators appear in alphabetical order, with no rankings and no sponsored places. When you have found the one you want, you book with the operator directly.

A curated list, checked at the source

We do not try to list everything there is to do in the country. Bookably keeps a curated list of the activities people plan a trip around, and only the ones with homes on Bookably in the surrounding area. Every detail on an activity page is checked against the operator’s own website before it appears, and checked again regularly, because seasons and timetables change. We launch with activities from the Bay of Islands to Otago, and the list grows as more hosts join. If an activity or an operator is missing, tell us at [email protected] and we will look at adding it.

Or just ask

Concierge understands activities too. Ask it for somewhere to stay for jet boating in Queenstown or a base for kayaking in Abel Tasman, and it searches real listings, checks real availability, and helps you all the way through to booking your stay. The activity itself you book with the operator.

The price you see is the price you pay

On Bookably the price you see is the price you pay. No platform booking fee is added for guests, and hosts pay no booking commission, so the price a host sets is the price you actually pay.

A note for our hosts

If your place is near where one of these activities departs, travellers can now find you by the activity itself, not just the town. An activity page appears once there are enough homes nearby, so every new listing helps put another activity on the map.

Activity search is live today on bookably.nz.
