The Importance of High-Quality Photos for Your Listing on Bookably

Why Great Photos Matter

Photos are the first thing guests notice when browsing holiday rentals. A well-presented property with clear, high-quality images increases trust, encourages bookings, and helps your listing stand out. While we do not require professionally taken photos, we highly recommend using professional photography or at least ensuring your images are well-lit, sharp, and showcase your property’s best features.

At Bookably, we want to maintain a high-quality experience for all users, so we do not accept listings with low-quality photos. Blurry, dark, or poorly framed images negatively impact not only your bookings but also the reputation of the entire platform.

How Many Photos Should You Upload?

To give guests a complete and engaging view of your property, we recommend uploading at least 10 photos but no more than 20. This ensures guests get enough visual information without overwhelming them.

Essential Photos to Include:

  1. Exterior shot – Show the entrance, facade, or outdoor area.
  2. Living space – Capture the lounge or main sitting area.
  3. Kitchen or dining area – Highlight the kitchen setup and dining space.
  4. Bedroom(s) – Show the sleeping arrangements clearly.
  5. Bathroom(s) – Include a clean, well-lit image of the bathroom(s).

For larger properties or those with unique features, consider adding:

  • Outdoor spaces (balcony, patio, garden, pool)
  • Views from the property
  • Unique amenities (fireplace, hot tub, workspace)

What Makes a Great Listing Photo?

A great photo is clear, bright, and well-composed. Follow these tips to capture your property at its best:

1. Use Natural Light

Take photos during the day with natural light. Open curtains and blinds to let in sunlight, which makes spaces appear warmer and more inviting.

2. Keep It Tidy

Before taking photos, declutter and clean your space. A well-presented, neatly arranged room looks more inviting and professional.

3. Use a Good Camera or Smartphone

Modern smartphones can take high-quality images if used correctly. Ensure your camera lens is clean, and avoid using filters or heavy editing.

4. Take Photos at Eye Level

Shoot from a straight, natural angle—not too high or too low. This makes rooms look proportionate and realistic to guests.

5. Highlight Your Property’s Best Features

If your property has a stunning view, a cosy fireplace, or a beautiful outdoor space, showcase these elements in your photos.

Photos We Do Not Accept

To maintain quality across our platform, we do not accept listings with:

  • Blurry, dark, or pixelated images
  • Images taken in poor lighting or with excessive shadows
  • Overly edited or distorted images
  • Cluttered, messy, or unclean spaces
  • Collages or images with text overlays

If your listing photos do not meet our quality standards, we may request better images before your listing can go live.

Final Thoughts: Quality Over Quantity

Your photos are the most powerful tool to attract guests and increase bookings. By investing a little time in taking high-quality images, you improve your chances of success on Bookably.
