Alerts tell you when something needs you, so you are not stuck checking your listings all day. This article covers what we send, when we send it, and what to do if nothing is arriving.
Turning alerts on
Open the Bookably Hosts app, or the Host Assistant in your browser, and look for the card headed Never miss a booking. Tap Enable alerts, then allow notifications when your phone or browser asks.
A test notification arrives straight away, so you know it is working before you rely on it.
What reaches you straight away
These are sent the moment they happen, at any hour of the day or night:
- A new booking request
- A booking confirmed
- A message from a guest
Bookings and messages are the things you would want to be woken for, so we never hold them back.
What waits until morning
Reminders are useful but rarely urgent, so we hold them between 10pm and 7am and send them once the quiet period ends. These include:
- Payouts still waiting to be set up
- A calendar that has not been updated in a while
- A featured listing about to expire
You also get one short summary of the day’s check-ins each morning, rather than a separate alert for each guest.
If alerts are not arriving
Almost always it is a phone setting rather than a problem with your account. On Android, work through these in order:
- Check notifications are allowed: Settings → Apps → Bookably Hosts → Notifications.
- Check the battery settings are not holding the app back: Settings → Apps → Bookably Hosts → Battery, and set it to unrestricted. This is the usual culprit when alerts arrive late or only when you open the app.
- Check Do Not Disturb, or a Focus or Bedtime mode, is not silencing them.
- Open the app and tap Enable alerts again. Registering the device afresh clears most problems.
If you are using the Host Assistant in a browser rather than the app, check that you allowed notifications for bookably.nz, and note that alerts only arrive while the browser is running.
Still nothing
Email [email protected] and tell us the make and model of your phone, and whether the test notification arrived when you tapped Enable alerts. That usually tells us straight away where it is going wrong.
